Carlisle boss Greg Abbott will be without defender Peter Murphy for Tuesday's home game against fellow strugglers Hereford.Murphy picked up a groin injury at Southend on Saturday and was assessed by a surgeon on Monday morning.
David Raven was recalled to the side that lost 3-0 at Roots Hall in a right-back role, but he will move into the middle to cover Murphy's absence.
Paul Thirlwell overcame a knee injury in time to play at the weekend and should again feature after suffering no ill-effects, but defenders Danny Livesey and Evan Horwood (both knee) are both out.
Abbott is desperate for his side to arrest a run that has seen them win just one of their last eight games and slip into deep relegation trouble.
