The right-handed middle order batsman said the home team was "shattered" with the visitors' performance today but said they have not lost hope of turning the tables against India with a strong response in the remaining days.
"It is going to be very difficult. But we have to take a positive frame of mind into tomorrow. A lot of things have to go our way to hopefully give ourselves a chance of getting back into the game. If we could knock three or four wickets early on, we could give ourselves a big sniff," said Taylor, who had made 151 in Napier in the second Test. He even went back to the history books to buttress the point that they can come back into the game, losing or drawing which would mean India clinching a Test series on New Zealand soil in 41 years.
